Study Abroad Ambassadors are study abroad alumni who are excited to share the value and impact of their experiences. Ambassadors serve as a student representative of the UNT Study Abroad Office, promote study abroad across the UNT campus and assist prospective students in their decision to study abroad by answering their initial questions.

ambassadors 2015The UNT Study Abroad Office is seeking student volunteers to serve as Study Abroad Ambassadors (SAAs). As an Ambassador you will actively build upon your past study abroad experience and gain valuable leadership experience. You will obtain hands-on training in the growing field of International Education, while enhancing your public speaking skills, which will be appropriate for noting on your resume. Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to share your personal experiences and inspire others to broaden their horizons. Members serve on up to two teams:

  • Cultural Immersion Team - assist incoming students adjust to life at UNT and the U.S., while helping UNT students prepare to go abroad.
  • Curriculum Integration Team - assist the Study Abroad Office Director and Assistant Director with identifying programs by major and developing a course equivalency database.
  • Film and Media Team - assist the Study Abroad Office with creating videos and marketing materials.
  • Outreach Team - assist with increasing awareness of study abroad through tabling, info sessions, and class presentations.
  • Research Team - assist the Study Abroad Office to put together student resources on topics such as scholarships, internships and service learning, post graduate opportunities.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to apply to and participate students must:
  • Be a currently enrolled UNT student;
  • Be in good academic and conduct standing at UNT;
  • Have previously participated in a UNT approved study abroad program;
  • Be able to commit to at least one hour of service per month; and
  • Be able to attend scheduled training sessions and meetings

Application Deadlines

This is the deadline to apply to the UNT Study Abroad Office to be selected and nominated as an exchange student. 
  • Spring Intake Application Deadline: 8:00 a.m. on Monday, January 23, 2017; Training will be Friday, January 27 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. in location TBD.
  • Fall Intake Application Deadline: August TBD
  • Summer Intake Deadline: May TBD
