German Major
Cultural Vistas Fellowship Germany
The importance of UNT students studying abroad, to me, comes from the similarities and differences you encounter while abroad. Differences are conventionally important because they make students more open-minded toward other world perspectives. Similarities, however, are also vital to those students because some aspects of a culture may be reflected in their own. Through seeing what's identical across cultures or languages, you can also realize that humans are equal and similar to each other no matter where they come from.
My work abroad program was a great opportunity to gain experience in a work environment while honing German and business skills. The program was also really financially helpful and allowed ample time to visit places relevant to my research areas.
